East Kent Branch of
       ‘The Embroiderers Guild’

Welcome to the East Kent Branch of the Embroiderers' Guild!

We are a large group and meet at 2.15 pm (doors open 1.45 pm) on the 3rd Saturday of each month in the John Baker Memorial Hall in Lower Hardres, near Canterbury, CT4 5NP.  A hearing loop is in use during meetings.

We have an excellent and varied range of speakers, which has recently included Helen Stevens, Jae Maries, Linda Miller and Sandra Meech.

Welcome to

      our website

We also have a number of day schools throughout the year where we can learn new skills under the guidance of the experts who have spoken to us on the previous day.

At each meeting there is a lively bring and buy table where some good bargains can be had (anything from books, to fabrics to half-finished masterpieces!), together with another table run by one of our members selling beautiful dyed fleece and felting sundries, as well as threads and other tempting items.

We are currently trying out an informal "stitch and chat" session between 10 and 12 am on the day of the meeting when we bring along a piece we are working on.  Some of our more experienced stitchers are on hand to offer advice if needed.  These sessions are still in the early stages but have so far proved most enjoyable.  Committee members have to break off in order to attend the committee meeting at 12, but those not involved on the committee are welcome to continue stitching in the main hall until the main meeting starts.  All we ask it that they lend a hand with putting out some chairs.

Our Young Embroiderers' Workshop is held between 10 and 12 four times a year. Please explore our website and find out more about who we are and what we do.  Our members have a wide range of skills and abilities and we hope that you will feel inspired to join us, whatever your level of skill or area of interest.
